Bought the GPS 40 model with the Primo software for a trip to Israel. The unit performed great (very quick recalculation of routes) if you could properly select where you wanted to go. The database for Israel did not contain many of the major sites (points of interest) and the variance in spelling of city names created difficulties. For example, a city might be spelled in a tour book with a "C" but an "S" in the database, or it may have used the ancient name but the is no modern name listed or visa versa or a particular name might only be in hebrew (although an english name existed). In addition, some points of interest were obviously listed in the GPS database incorrectly. For example, the Bahia Gardens was up a climbing road about 2 miles from where the database thought it was, and GPS could not locate the ancient city/site of Megiddo, the Church of the Beatitudes or even properly locate the Jerusalem Museum, but took us to a theater instead. A work around was to go into Google mapping and try to obtain the GPS map coordinates. Once you had the correct location in the database it worked very efficiently and the routing was usually good. The Primo customization features need some work- it was not always clear when things were selected to appear on menus or where things would appear. Also, selection of item (POIs) was difficult and could show up in a town search but not a search by name or visa versa.Again, the unit's and its electronic components worked very well, my only complaint was the ON-OFF off bar placement which was on top of the unit- Model 40. It was very difficult to handle the unit and not shut it off.In the US, the unit works great and the database seems acceptable, although we had a couple small towns that could not be found. Overall, the biggest problem were point of interest problems and selection problems, discussed above. Amigo software should be notified.
