Need help with accessing digital TriStar T M X DVR when away from home over internet.  Home internet service is DSL ethernet connected to LinkSys Wi-Fi router and T M X unit is ethernet connected to the same LinkSys Wi-Fi.  T M X is set to DHCP enabled and receives local 192.168.xxx.xxx IP address successfully.Question #1:When I am away from home and connect my laptop to the internet using whatever internet service available at away from home location, such as a relatives internet, library etc, once I am connected to internet how do I connect to my T M X back at home?Question#2Can I view live streaming TV from the home TV if I left it on and if so is there a way to change TV channels?End  Are you familiar with private connections?

Unit will not copy all tapes

I purchased a new PVR and am having trouble installing the device to my system and getting it to work.The unit is attached thru CVBS output per figure 3.2 in the manual to Video 2 input on a Onkio AV Control Receiver TX-DS555 then to a Toshiba 51" projection TV via CVBS cable. I do have other devices attached to the Video 1 input and to the DVD in via CVBS inputs and they all work as expected with no issues.With the Video 2 input selected, I turn on the PVR, a boot up screen comes up with the NEX logo in color, then the PVR goes to the set-up screen, in black-and-white and the unit looses horizontal refresh. If I PIP the Video 2 input, the set-up screen can be seen, the horizontal refresh is stable, but the display is black-and-white. That is as far as I have got.I have read the manual and forum posts and did not find any specific topics to help me. My service contract will expire on 5/22, this is the 1st chance I have had since purchase to try and install this device and I want to get this unit installed before the end of the technical support period.Should the set-up screen be in color?Can you advise what I could try to stabilize the horizontal refresh? Gentlemen:I received my Tristar MX PVR yesterday and have been practicing with it but need help with several issues. I have listed the issues below by number. In your reply please refer to each issue by its number. Example: Issue #1 \"NewElectronx investigated this issue and .........\"Issue #1: screws for mounting base plate where missing from box. Can you send missing screws?Issue #2: I downloaded the manual and received it in Acrobat PDF Maker 8.1 for Word format. When you hopen document it is in *.pdf (Secured) format. In this format there are no options shown when normally open a pdf document in Adobe Reader where \"File\" \"Edit\" etc or PrinterIcon on task bar are available. I was able to print document by right clicking on it and selecting Print; however for your information I doubt the average computer user would be able to figure out how to print the document without the \"File\" or PrinterIcon on task bar.Issue #3 - I powered off the Tristar MX PVR using the remote \"Standby\" button. Apparently this button or the Power button on top of the unit do not actually power off the unit but just put it in a sleep mode. Later when I walked by unit it had powered back on for no reason and neither the buttons on the unit or the remote would work. I had to physically unplug the power cord for it power off. Sure, if your existing cable box already has a test chip installed in it then you can simply remove the old test chip from the cable box (or converter) and then install our test chip kit. When you install our test chip make sure you follow the instruction manual that we provide with our product.Prior to making the purchase and upgrading the cable box with our devices, you should ensure what the root problem of the non-working unit is before you rip the old test chip out and put a new one into it. In most cases if the box is broken, the test chip will not fix it. The cable box must be operationally healthy and in working condition before you apply our test aids.Lastly, if you are using an analog product then you should make sure that the channels that you are interested in testing are still available in your area. If the channels have gone digital then an analog test chip will not bring them back. -

There are generally 2 F connectors on the rear of your cable box that you should be concerned with when connecting the incoming and outgoing coax lines to and from your cable box. If there are more than 1 F connector on your cable box, which is generally the case with some of our cable boxes then you will only need to be concerned with 2 of them. The connectors that you should mainly pay explicit attention too are normally labeled: Input and/or Cable In for the input coax cable line. For the output coax cable line you should use To TV and/or Output. The images show an example of the Scientific Atlanta and Jerrold cable box, but this solution can be universally applied to any cable box that we sell. The arrow indicators show the F connectors in which you should use for your connections while the X represents what you should not use or be concerned with. Generally connecting the cable box to your TV, VCR, PVR, DVR, etc is a cinch. However, you will have to note that if you ordered an upgraded cable box that the cable box has a descrambler kit inside. The kit has what is called firmware programmed into it to help it learn the information coming across your coax incoming line. This line feeds to the back of your cable box via the F connector labeled Input, Cable In, etc. The kit will require some time to learn your systems information prior to the cable box being fully operational. You should plan to allow 48 hours to 2 weeks to elapse before you can fully use your box.Make sure the coax cable lines are properly connected to the rear of the cable box. Search or navigate to the FAQ: How do I connect my cable box to the TV? Read over this FAQ and ensure that you have your cable box connected properly.If you purchased an OEM upgraded cable box then you may have purchased the incorrect model number and/or manufacture to replace your existing cable box. The test chip kits that we sell will allow you to enhance your cable box. It will allow the cable box to operate in full test mode. All analog channels will be viewable with clear sound and picture. However in the event that you are losing channels we highly recommend that you check that these channels are not being moved to the digital band. An analog test chip will not recover channels moved to digital.The descrambling circuitry of our test chips will allow the cable box to get all the analog channels available in your area. You will receive everything that is offered on your system from channel 2 to 99 (in most areas). If you have PPV, HBO, SHO, MAX, PLAYBOY, etc in your area and they are between channels 2 to 99 (and not digital) then you will receive them with our test chip kits. It does not matter what subscriber (provider) company you use, if your channels are analog then our kits should successfully bring in all those channels that you desire to test.We recommend that you do your homework before purchasing and check to ensure that the channels that you would like to test are analog not digital. Make sure you apply this method even if you decide to purchase with another company. This will save you time, money, and headaches in the long run. -

Yes, descramblers may be owned and operated legally, but they can also be operated illegally. Under US Federal Law, cable customers have the right to own and operate their own cable equipment, providing that equipment is compatible with the cable system. The descrambler must only be capable of descrambling those cable channels and programs that have been paid for and are authorized for reception by the cable system\\\'s operators. The unauthorized reception of cable programming is against the law and can carry stiff penalties and fines for anyone found to be violating the law. As the purchaser of a descrambler, you are responsible for informing you cable system\\\'s operators of your intention to own and operate your own equipment and you must inform the operators concerning all the programming that your descrambler is capable of receiving so you may then pay for that programming. Some descrambler manufacturers and distributors can pre-program your descrambler to only be capable of receiving those channels that you are authorized to receive, and most descramblers are programmable by the customer so they will exclude all unauthorized programming. -

NO. The cable company is not able to detect what device you are using. That is why you need to inform them that you have a descrambler. Otherwise, they would have no way of knowing that you are receiving full service. -

Will an analog cable box work in my area if my cable company upgraded to digital cable TV? - Locking Terminator Tools
YES. The cable companies are still required to "broadcast" the analog cable signal (channels 1 to 125) on your cable system. So even if you currently have digital cable, you are likely receiving an analog signal on channels 1 to 125. Some areas overseas still broad cast up to 244. Of course you will not be able to access the digital channel tiers above 125 (99 in some areas), but you should be able to receive the analog programming with our OEM or TriStar MX Nano (Avenger MX Video Board) cable box receivers. Most cable companies charge customers a premium to receive their digital cable service. If you do not want to pay this premium fee for digital service you can ask the cable company give you the "normal" analog cable service (package). You can read about what some of the packages are referred to in the knowledge base. Most likely the package may not be considered normal by your provider, but Basic, Extended Basic, Digital, etc. This information is subject to change in the US between the present date to the year 2009. So monitor your area closely.If your cable company is not offering any analog channels on their current tier then you do not need to purchase an analog product: test chip or cable box (OEM like Jerrold, Pioneer, Tocom, Scientific Atlanta, etc. or Universal like TriStar MX Nano). Analog products will not work on digital cable televison systems. So please do not waste your time trying to test it. -
