Dear sir,I am having dificulties trying to tune MX 2005 in a VCR.I know you stated not to provide support for "VCR" instalation, but I kindly ask. I already instaled it and it worked, but unfortunally sometimes it does not.I mean, sometimes I power up the vcr and it worked like a charm. someother it give "no signal" and no any channel appear.Can you help me find solution for this? What is PAL, What is NTSC, What is the difference between PAL and NTSC? - Contacting Us
The National Television System(s) Committee, the industry-wide standardization body created the NTSC system. It is an analog television system used in Korea, Japan, US, Canada and certain other places. An analog television system is one which encodes signals (both picture and sound ) by varying the amplitude and/or frequency of the signal. The NTSC system for television uses a type of video signal called the composite video signal in which the signals e.g. red, green, and blue signals for picture and sometimes audio signals are all mixed together. The NTSC standard is incompatible with most computer video standards, which generally use RGB video signals. To avoid consumption of extra bandwidth and improving the picture quality of a video transmission a technique of interlace is used. Interlace uses a scan technique which uses fields (either odd fields or even fields.) The NTSC system uses 29.97 interlaced frames of video per second. Each frame contains 525 lines and can contain 16 million different colors. The NTSC system interlaces its scan lines, drawing odd-numbered scan lines in odd-numbered fields and even-numbered scan lines in even-numbered fields. This yields a nearly flicker free image at approximately 59.94 Hz per second refresh frequency. Previously the refresh frequency was exactly 60 hz in B/W television because the frequency of AC power was 60Hz in the US. Then the refresh frequency was brought down to 59.94 Hz to eliminate stationary dot patterns in the color carrier. NTSC system has evolved from NTSC I to NTSC II to NTSCIII. NTSCI has 525/60Hz system, NTSCII has 525/59.94 Hz system and NTSC III is rigidly math defined. PAL is short for phase-alternating line, phase alternation by line or phase alternation line, is a type of color encoding system used in many parts of the world. PAL was developed by Walter Bruch in Germany and was first introduced in 1967. PAL delivers 625 lines at 50 half-frames per second as compared to 525/60Hz in NTSC. The PAL color system is usually used with a video format that has 625 lines per frame and a refresh rate of 50 interlaced fields per second (or 25 full frames per second). This refresh rate of 50Hz is used because Europe has a AC power standard of 50Hz. Flicker is more likely to be noticed when using these standards. The name PAL is used where the phase of part of the color information that exist in the video signal is reversed in each line. This reversion automatically corrects the phase error that occurs in the transmission of the signal by canceling them out. Earlier PAL users had to rely on the imperfection of the human eye to do the canceling but that resulted in a comb effect when the phase errors were strong. Thus users use a delay line, it used to store the input and deliver the output after a delay of a certain time (this time can be in femtoseconds, nanoseconds, or microseconds). This reduces the color resolution compared to the NTSC system, but since the human eye also has a color resolution, this effect is not visible. So PAL was also referred as "Perfect At Last", "Peace At Last", or "Pay for Additional Luxury" on a lighter note. Even in PAL system , some countries have PAL M for example in Brazil where the system uses 525 line, 29.97 frame/s just as NTSC so this is known as PAL M. The PAL color system can also be applied to an NTSC-like 525-line picture to form "PAL-60" (sometimes "PAL-60/525"). Both NTSC and PAL systems are incompatible with each other. So cable boxes that use NTSC cannot be viewed in PAL systems and vice versa. But there exists procedures by which they can be converted and used. The TriStar MX Nano is an analog universal cable box descrambler. When enhanced with the Avenger MX you can receive all ANALOG channels in your area. This will not guarantee you PPV or Premium channels. Thus, instead ask these questions:  What analog channels does my area provider transmit on the coax wire? Are the transmitted analog channels the ones I would like to receive? Are the channels in the analog spectrum the ones I wish to receive? -

Is there a fix for the bullet (electronic bullet), something like a Bullet Busters, Cable Bullet Busters, Cable TV Bullet Busters? - Contacting Us
Yes, there are a few of solutions to the problem. The "Bullet" as sent from headend causes the cable box to lock-up, and not output a picture. The fix is simple - unplug the power cord. After a few minutes, plug-in the box again and it should reset. At worst, the box may stay dead for up to 24 hours. If this does not work - go to the next fix. The second fix is to install an in-line trap (Cable Filter Bullet Buster) to filter out the actual message or "Bullet" before it can get to the microprocessor of the cable box. This is accomplished by inserting on the cable going to the box, a small F-M trap (or Cable Filter Bullet Buster). This trap is designed to "filter" out the frequency carrying the "Bullet" information. Unfortunately, there are a few side effects. One is that the box will not be updated with time-of-day, special messages and other "housekeeping" instructions. These small traps are popularly referred to as "Bullet Busters" or "Cable Filter Bullet Buster". The third fix is to install a test chip into your universal cable box, OEM cable box, STB (set top box), converter, tuner, or decoder. -

The unauthorized reception of cable programming is against the law and can carry stiff penalties and fines for anyone found to be violating the law. As the purchaser of a descrambler, you are responsible for informing you cable system\\\'s operators of your intention to own and operate your own equipment and you must inform the operators concerning all the programming that your descrambler is capable of receiving so you may then pay for that programming. Some non OEM descramblers have additional filtering to block the addressing signals sent by cable system operators. This filtering often reduces the overall signal strength and a fuzzy or color depleted picture results. Try installing a 10db amplifier near where the cable enters your descrambler in order to boost the signal. If your coaxial cable run length from the service connection or utility pole is excessively long, you may also need to add an additional 10db amplifier as close to the service connection as possible. Signal amplification can frequently change a very poor quality picture to nearly picture perfect reception. Another solution would be to purchase an OEM converter for your system. OEM products provide the best sound and picture quality. -

There are generally 2 F connectors on the rear of your cable box that you should be concerned with when connecting the incoming and outgoing coax lines to and from your cable box. If there are more than 1 F connector on your cable box, which is generally the case with some of our cable boxes then you will only need to be concerned with 2 of them. The connectors that you should mainly pay explicit attention too are normally labeled: Input and/or Cable In for the input coax cable line. For the output coax cable line you should use To TV and/or Output. The images show an example of the Scientific Atlanta and Jerrold cable box, but this solution can be universally applied to any cable box that we sell. The arrow indicators show the F connectors in which you should use for your connections while the X represents what you should not use or be concerned with. These same suggestions and techniques can be applied to any universal cable box with minor adjustments. The tutorial should be used in reference to the manual that we provide for the Avenger MX 2006 Video Descrambler Board (Card). In this example we are going to use a Tristar MX universal cable box. NOTE: Do NOT use this tutorial without the manual for the Avenger MX Video board. Tristar MX GS3 PRO GS2 PRO Tristar Masterpiece Media Tech 2200 Clearmax 600 SuperMax Platinum Viewmaster 4000 Coolbox Platinum Tristar Avenger Tristar 9000 SmartBox Pro Viewmax Pro Platinum Vision Titanium And many more! 1. You will first have to gain access to the inside of your unit. You will need to unscrew the top lid or case of cable box to do this. There are two screws on the side of the box and one screw in the back of the box holding the lid in place that will need to be removed. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver to remove them. 2. After the screws are removed from the lid of the unit, you need to be extremely careful and you can very slowly open the lid from front to back like a briefcase. 3. You will need to attach your Avenger MX Board to the main internal board of the cable box using the wiring harness included with your purchase.  Consult the instruction manual and ensure that you are familiar with how the Avenger MX 2006 wire harness should be connected to the Avenger and the main board of the universal cable box. Remember you can switch the wires around to fit any configuration of any cable box. This short movie was introduced to display the transparency between the Avenger MX 2005 version (displayed in the picture) and the Avenger MX 2006 Video Board. The Avenger 2005 version is the version of the Avenger MX (Avenzer) Video Board that requires you to tune the pod. We have improved this feature on the Avenger MX 2006 Version by making this feature completely automatic; thus removing this tedious and time consuming procedure. If you have the old 2005 Version then it is time for you to upgrade to the 2006 version. Will an analog cable box work in my area if my cable company upgraded to digital cable TV? - Locking Terminator Tools
YES. The cable companies are still required to "broadcast" the analog cable signal (channels 1 to 125) on your cable system. So even if you currently have digital cable, you are likely receiving an analog signal on channels 1 to 125. Some areas overseas still broad cast up to 244. Of course you will not be able to access the digital channel tiers above 125 (99 in some areas), but you should be able to receive the analog programming with our OEM or TriStar MX Nano (Avenger MX Video Board) cable box receivers. Most cable companies charge customers a premium to receive their digital cable service. If you do not want to pay this premium fee for digital service you can ask the cable company give you the "normal" analog cable service (package). You can read about what some of the packages are referred to in the knowledge base. Most likely the package may not be considered normal by your provider, but Basic, Extended Basic, Digital, etc. This information is subject to change in the US between the present date to the year 2009. So monitor your area closely.If your cable company is not offering any analog channels on their current tier then you do not need to purchase an analog product: test chip or cable box (OEM like Jerrold, Pioneer, Tocom, Scientific Atlanta, etc. or Universal like TriStar MX Nano). Analog products will not work on digital cable televison systems. So please do not waste your time trying to test it. -

NO, as of now there is not a full solution for any of the new digital cable systems. Our R&D department is hard at work trying to resolve a friendly applicable device for our customer to use. How to activate (provision) an owed digital cable descrambler - Locking Terminator Tools
STEP 1: Call your local provider or Customer Service Representative (CSR) or preferably a Supervisor.Say: “I purchased a refurbished to new Motorola Cable Box and I am requesting for it to be added to your Cable System or have my unit provisioned.”                                        They will require the following 3 pieces of information:1.    The model number. Get this off the bottom of the cable box descrambler. Generally it starts with DCT or DCH or DCP. Look in the knowledge base for tips if you cannot find your model number.2.    The serial number: On the bottom of the cable box. Additional tips to find this are in the knowledge base.3.    The Unit Address: 16 digit number on the back or bottom of the cable box.Please double check these numbers with the actual unit!Be certain that the rep has all three of these when speaking with them on the phone or via email.STEP 2: Have the unit connected directly to a Cable Source, with no splitters or devices and then plug in the power cord. The unit will then download the software automatically, usually in less than an hour. It will shut off by itself when it’s done. If your power it on, it will show channel “0”, this indicates it is ready for activation. It will not change channels or show any channels on your TV at this time, until it is zapped by the cable company. If you ever unplug the power do not plug it back in for at least 1 minute or you risk damaging the unit and voiding the warranty. Keep it plugged in so it’s ready for activation.Then just wait for your provider to call to inform you that the box has been added and to activate it. If you do not hear from them within 2 days, then call them with the serial number.After they activate the box, it will shut off for a few minutes then boot back up. The units take a few minutes to “boot” when you plug the power in and the menu functions won’t work for up to an hour, be patient with these units. TV guide will take a day to fully download.THAT’S IT! That’s all that has to be done, but it has to be followed strictly.Additional info: Sometimes a rep gets a number wrong. Then when they try to activate the box they get no response, this indicates that the cable system is not communicating with the box based on the numbers in their system. Issues with Avenger MX 2005 Video Board
I have a generic Tristar MX Nano case that I\'ve installed the Avenger 2005 board into (on J4) since these lined up perfectly with the cable & pinouts needed (had to remove jumper over VO/VI prior to installing cable). The test board is not descrambling any channels- even those that are currently grainy even without the board installed. It does continue to allow the basic cable channels through (same with & without the Avenger 2005 board installed). I have digital cable, but was told by NEX that this box & board should work. Tried it with second Avenger 2005 board, same results. Tunes basic cable, nothing else. Any ideas/ help? I have the Home Theater remote control (got as package with Nano box), which I haven\'t configured yet, so potentially I have an issue with an option not being enabled on the Nano box via the remote. ??Thanks! Tristar MX Nano Universal not working
I recently purchase a Tristar MX Nano Universal Cable TV Box w/ Avenger MX card install, I follow all of the Manual procedure, but was disappointed   that it did not work. At first I set it to the STD format but it did not descramble the scramble channels as it should, so I try the other format (HRC and IRC) and noting happen. In addition to the unit not descrambling the scramble channel, there are white (lightning) lines across the screen. The quality is worst then connecting the cable direct to the TV even after using the fine tuning feature as described in the manual. i am most cretin that the unit is faulty. Not descrambling the channel is one thing but this unit according to is spec, it should have good quality.  I also loose volume quality when using the box.someone please help me  on this.  It is always great to have the opportunity to clarify the TriStar MX Nano. Thank you for this pleasure.The TriStar MX Nano is a universal cable box. What that means is that the TriStar MX Nano universal cable box will replace any analog OEM cable box descrambler. Since the unit is universal and has vast flexibility over your general television tuner or OEM cable box tuner, this means you have many adjustment that will allow you to fine tune it to your direct application. This clearly does not mean the product is defective. It only means that you truly do not understand what you purchased prior to making your order.You must note that this is an analog universal cable box and it is ineffective on digital cable television signals as described on the description page of this product. It will only work on analog cable signals. So the first thing that you may want to do for yourself is confirm if your area is truly analog (or if it is in fact digital cable).If the channels are analog then you should be able to receive them with the TriStar MX Nano universal cable box. In your post there seems to be some procedures that went unmentioned that should have been performed during installation which would allow for smooth operation.Make sure you have the television on channel 4 or 3. If channel 3 does not work then use channel 4. Connect new coax cables from the TriStar MX Nano universal cable box to your television and the incoming cable wire from your analog provider. Select the proper mode: HRC, IRC, or STD. Place the TriStar MX Nano on a simple channel like channel 5. Use the fine tune buttons on the remote and fine tune channel 5. Do this for each channel.If picture quality still suffers then unplug your television and then re-plug it in to reset it. Turn the TV back on. Adjust your color levels. The “lighting” can be removed by using another universal feature on the Avenger MX Card installed into your TriStar MX Nano. You can download the Avenger MX manual and adjust the potentiometers from their default settings to better suit your area of analog cable television.The sound quality can be addressed by disabling the sound card that was installed in your TriStar MX Nano universal cable box. Press MEM3 to ensure the red light on the main front display of the TriStar MX Nano cable box is off. This will turn the sound board off. Gamebit screws will not allow a repair person or classic gamer to take apart the game console or game cartridge. This is when you should decide to buy the proper gamebit or gamebits for the task at hand. Gamebit come in many sizes, the most popular are the 4.5mm gamebit and 3.8mm gamebit. These two special gamebits will allow you to open up consoles and many other electronic devices. The 4.5mm gamebit is used to mainly open up consoles, and the 3.8mm gamebit can open up SNES carts. Tracking issues generally arise when customers mistake parcel reference numbers for tracking numbers or when an insufficient time is not allowed to let the courier update their data base. USPS provides parcel reference numbers. UPS and FedEx provide tracking numbers. There is a huge difference between the two numbers. A tracking number will emit live tracking as soon as the package is released into the couriers’ custody. This means you can track your package from the time that we ship the package until the package reaches your front door. These are generally UPS and FedEx packages. A parcel reference number will NOT allow live tracking information about your package. In fact in most cases the information readily available to you while the package is in transit is confusing and misleading. A parcel reference number will generally update 2 times to public (you – the customer): once when we ship it and after you receive your package at your destination. The rest of the information concerning your package is concealed away by the courier for internal company purposes. Packages that have this problem are generally USPS packages. Your package will ship approximately 24 hours from the date that you ordered with us or sooner (with the exception of holidays and Sundays). In this tutorial we will install an Avenger MX 2006 into a common universal cable box using the white BOSS&OZ connector. To use a simpler and easier method, use the black connector labeled Avenzer located here: BLACK CONNECTOR. These same suggestions and techniques can be applied to any universal cable box with minor adjustments. The tutorial should be used in reference to the manual that we provide for the Avenger MX 2006 Video Descrambler Board (Card). In this example we are going to use a Tristar MX universal cable box. NOTE: Do NOT use this tutorial without the manual for the Avenger MX Video board. You will first have to gain access to the inside of your unit. You will need to unscrew the top lid or case of cable box to do this. There are two screws on the side of the box and one screw in the back of the box holding the lid in place that will need to be removed. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver to remove them. 2. After the screws are removed from the lid of the unit, you need to be extremely careful and you can very slowly open the lid from front to back like a briefcase. 3. You will need to attach your Avenger MX Board to the main internal board of the cable box using the wiring harness included with your purchase.  Consult the instruction manual and ensure that you are familiar with how the Avenger MX 2006 wire harness should be connected to the Avenger and the main board of the universal cable box. Remember you can switch the wires around to fit any configuration of any cable box. This short movie was introduced to display the transparency between the Avenger MX 2005 version (displayed in the picture) and the Avenger MX 2006 Video Board. The Avenger 2005 version is the version of the Avenger MX (Avenzer) Video Board that requires you to tune the pod. We have improved this feature on the Avenger MX 2006 Version by making this feature completely automatic; thus removing this tedious and time consuming procedure. If you have the old 2005 Version then it is time for you to upgrade to the 2006 version. If you see the old version being marketed for the same price then DO yourself a service and order the newer model – after all you deserve new or current technology for your hard earned money. Do you see an X-ray, inverted or negative photo type image on any premium channels after installing and activating the video board, this is called random inversion. Random inversion is when a cable company sends two signals to the exact same channel at the exact same time. To date the Avenger MX 2006 can beat random inversion, but rapid random inversion is currently not supported. This tutorial will cover the Tristar MX and MediaTech 2200. If you have other universal boxes please consult your Owners Manual to use this feature. In this example we will demonstrate how to fine your Avenger Board Video Board with your universal box. In this example we used the TristarMX, but any universal cable box can be tuned the same way. Random inversion is when a cable company sends two signals to the exact same channel at the exact same time. To date the TriStar MX Nano with the Avenger MX can beat random inversion, but rapid random inversion is currently not supported. This tutorial will cover the Tristar MX Nano.
